Diary
Choice Brits celebrates all the British Films eligible for BAFTA awards this year - check our Brit Films List to find out more about them all.
Those fortunate enough to get a wide release need no additional showcasing. Instead for this series we have selected twelve smaller release British films to re-screen or preview which you may not have had a chance to see - and if you did, we're confident that you willl want to take another look. To add to the choiceness of these particular Brits, we've invited a range of industry speakers to come an introduce them and explain just why they are supporting the Brit talent on show this year.

THE HEART OF ME
Based on Rosamond Lehman’s The Echoing Grove, The Heart of Me is an impeccable study of love, passion and repression in the 30’s society London, which follows two beautiful sisters as they each embark on a life-changing relationship with the same man.
Dir. Thaddeus O’Sullivan, Scr. Lucinda Coxon
Starring Helena Bonham Carter, Olivia Williams, Paul Bettany
UK 2002, 96 mins
THE MOTHER
An absorbing foray into the rich mine of both parent-child and inter-generational relationships, this wonderfully bittersweet and emotive picture allows an older woman to explore long-suppressed feelings when her husband unexpectedly dies, paving the way for a bong to form with an attentive younger man. The Mother received joint first prize in the Directors Fortnight at Cannes 2003.
Dir. Roger Michell, Scr. Hanif Kureishi
Starring Anne Reid, Daniel Craig, Stephen MacIntosh
UK 2003, 112 mins
TOUCHING THE VOID
Deeply affecting and cinematically stunning, this dramatic documentary, from the Oscar-winning director of One Day in September, recounts the story of a remarkable endurance that has become mountaineering legend, based on Joe Simpson’s account of his own near-death experience on the slopes of the Peruvian Andes.
Dir. Kevin MacDonald, adapted from the novel by Joe Simpson
